CHANDIGARH: The entire nation is witnessing an outpouring of faith and reverence on the sacred occasion of Parkash Purb, marking the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism. From bustling city streets to quiet village lanes, the air resonates with the soulful hymns of Gurbani, as devotees gather in Gurdwaras to offer prayers and partake in community service.

President Murmu Extends Heartfelt Greetings

President Droupadi Murmu shared her warm wishes with the people of India through a message on her official X (formerly Twitter) handle. She said, “On the auspicious occasion of the Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all Indians, especially our Sikh brothers and sisters across the world. Guru Nanak’s teachings of truth, compassion, and service to humanity continue to illuminate our lives.”

CM Mann Calls for Living by Guru’s Teachings

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann also greeted the Sangat, emphasizing the timeless relevance of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s philosophy. “Guru Sahib’s message of Kirat Karo, Naam Japo, Vand Chhako teaches us to live with honesty, remember the Divine, and share with others,” Mann said in his statement. “Let us walk the path of truth and harmony with nature as shown by Guru Sahib.”

To mark the occasion, the Chief Minister, accompanied by his wife Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, visited Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar. The couple offered prayers for the peace and prosperity of the people of Punjab. The holy shrine was adorned with lights and flowers, while the echoes of devotional Kirtan filled the air, creating a serene and spiritual atmosphere.

Leaders Join in Celebrations

Prominent Akali Dal leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa from Delhi also conveyed his greetings to the community. Expressing devotion, Sirsa said, “This sacred day reminds us of Guru Nanak Sahib’s eternal message of love, humility, and selfless service. May Guru Sahib bless us all with the strength to serve humanity.”

Punjab Bathes in a Spiritual Glow

Across Punjab and beyond, the day is being celebrated with great enthusiasm and reverence. Colorful Nagar Kirtans (religious processions) are being carried out, accompanied by hymns, Gatka performances, and community Langars (free kitchens). Every Gurdwara has become a hub of devotion, where volunteers are serving food, water, and offering prayers in the spirit of equality and compassion.

In cities like Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, and Jalandhar, thousands of devotees gathered from early morning to listen to Gurbani Kirtan. The fragrance of flowers, the shimmer of lamps, and the humble acts of service have filled the day with both emotion and spirituality.

As the nation bows in reverence, the universal message of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji—to live truthfully, serve selflessly, and see the Divine in all—continues to guide hearts and minds, reaffirming his timeless vision of peace and unity.
