Multiple Militant Cadres Arrested in Coordinated Security Operations Across Manipur

Imphal: Security forces carried out a series of coordinated operations across Manipur on Saturday, leading to the arrest of several active cadres linked to proscribed militant outfits, police officials said.

An active member of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Progressive), PREPAK (PRO), identified as Thangjam Priyobarta Singh alias Yokkhatpa (35), a resident of Kumbi Mayai Leikai in Bishnupur district, was apprehended from his home.

In a separate operation the same day, security personnel arrested two other active PREPAK (PRO) cadres allegedly involved in extortion activities. The arrested individuals were identified as Kshetrimayum Abinash Singh (21) of Kakching Thonglan Pareng in Kakching district and Rajkumar Daniel Singh alias Loyataba, also known by aliases Jessy and Naoton (31), from Kwakeithel Thokchom Leikai in Imphal West district. They were detained from the Canchipur area of Imphal West.

During the operation, security forces recovered a 9mm pistol along with a magazine loaded with 12 rounds, two .38 calibre rounds, three mobile phones and a two-wheeler from their possession, officials confirmed.

In another crackdown, two active women cadres associated with the UNLF (Koireng) faction were arrested from Moirangkampu Sajeb Makha Leikai in Imphal East district. They were identified as Takhellambam Sanathoi Chanu alias Loingakpi alias Sanathoi (19) from Tumukhong Awang Leikai and Kongbrailakpam Rameshori Devi alias Langlen, also known as Bemma and Buchu (19), from Moirangkampu Sajeb Makha Leikai.

Meanwhile, an active cadre of the UNLF (Pambei) faction, Karam Manikanta Singh alias Amuba, also known as MK Khuman (46), a resident of Lamboikhongnangkhong in Imphal West district, was arrested from Lamphel Super Market. Security forces seized two mobile phones, a wallet containing his PAN card and ₹1,020 in cash from him.

A senior police officer said the overall law and order situation in Manipur remained under control over the past 24 hours. The officer added that police and security agencies continue to intensify operations to curb militant activities and apprehend those involved in unlawful acts.
