Agra: A shocking case has emerged from Agra, where the body of an eight-year-old girl, who had been missing for two days, was discovered hidden inside a flour bin in her own house. Police have launched a manhunt for a tenant suspected to be involved in the crime.
According to Ali Abbas, Deputy Commissioner of Police (City), the child went missing on March 24 from the Siddhant Nagar area under the Tajganj police station limits. Her family had reported her disappearance soon after she could not be located.
Authorities formed multiple teams and scanned CCTV footage from nearby areas, but initial efforts failed to trace her whereabouts. Suspicion later fell on a tenant named Sunil, who lived in a room within the same house.
Police broke open the locked room after noticing unusual behaviour and found the girl’s body concealed inside a flour container. The discovery has sent shockwaves through the locality.
Officials said the accused had initially participated in the search efforts but later locked his room and fled, raising suspicion. He has been absconding since then, and search operations are underway to track him down.
The victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, residents in the neighbourhood expressed anger and disbelief, stating that the accused had been living there for nearly a year and was known to the family.
Police have assured that strict action will be taken once the accused is apprehended, and further investigation is in progress.
