Baramulla: An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale was felt across parts of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday morning, briefly unsettling residents but causing no reported damage, officials confirmed.

The seismic activity was recorded at around 5.35 am, with its epicentre located near the Pattan area of Baramulla district. Residents in nearby localities reported feeling the tremors, which lasted for a few seconds and were most noticeable during the early morning calm.

Authorities said there have been no reports of injuries or damage to property following the quake. District administration and disaster response teams remain on alert as a precaution, while officials continue to monitor the situation.

Jammu and Kashmir falls in a seismically active zone, and minor earthquakes are not uncommon in the region. Experts have advised residents to remain calm and follow standard safety guidelines in the event of aftershocks.
