Jammu: The Directorate of School Education Jammu has officially extended the ongoing summer vacation for all government and recognized private educational institutions functioning within the winter zone of the Jammu division. According to the formal directive issued by the school education department on Sunday, the extension applies to all schools up to the higher secondary level. The administrative decision was finalized following necessary approvals from competent state authorities and serves as a direct continuation of the comprehensive vacation schedule originally implemented on July 1.

The emergency extension comes amidst severe weather warnings issued by the meteorological department, which has predicted widespread torrential downpours, intense lightning, and flash flood risks across the region over the coming days. Local authorities noted that the safety of students and teaching staff remains the topmost priority, especially given the current infrastructural disruptions caused by heavy overnight rains in the border districts. Under the modified schedule, all winter zone primary, high, and higher secondary institutions will now remain closed until July 22, 2026.

As per the official notification, all affected public and private schools are scheduled to resume regular academic operations on July 23, 2026. The directorate has instructed all regional CEOs and zonal education officers to ensure strict compliance with the order across their respective jurisdictions, warning that any institutional violations will invite strict administrative action.
