New Delhi: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has directed Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the digital satirical outfit Cockroach Janta Party, to appear before an inter-ministerial review committee. The hearing, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at the ministry headquarters in New Delhi, focuses on an administrative appeal filed by Dipke against the central government’s decision to withhold the group’s initial social media handle.
Confirming his scheduled attendance at Electronics Niketan, Dipke stated on social media that he would personally present his case regarding the restriction of their original handle, @CJP_2029. The initial account was withheld within India on May 21, just days after the platform’s launch on May 16. While the official grounds for blocking the profile remain unconfirmed, the group quickly established an alternative presence under a new handle, which has remained fully active along with its other primary social media pages.
The official summons arrives at a critical juncture, coinciding with an ongoing five-day sit-in demonstration spearheaded by Dipke at Jantar Mantar. The demonstrators are seeking the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged systemic irregularities in national examinations and the recent paper-leak controversy. Despite facing local logistical constraints and a reduced crowd size following administrative actions by law enforcement at the designated site, the organisers have expressed a firm resolution to sustain their agitation until their demands are addressed
