New Delhi: IndiGo has introduced a new entry-level fare category, IndiGo Lite, allowing passengers to travel on direct domestic and international flights with only cabin baggage at the airline’s lowest available base fare.

Under the new fare option, passengers will receive an automatically assigned seat at no extra charge and can carry up to 7 kg of cabin baggage. The fare does not include checked-in baggage, making it a cost-effective option for travellers carrying only hand luggage.

The airline said the IndiGo Lite fare will be available for economy class passengers and will be priced lower than its existing fare categories.

Explaining the move, IndiGo Chief Strategy Officer Aloke Singh said the new offering is aimed at passengers who prefer to travel light and pay only for the services they require.

“Designed for customers who travel light and would like to pay only for the services they need, IndiGo Lite is another step towards building a strong, fit-for-purpose product portfolio. This reflects our agility in responding to the market dynamics while reinforcing our commitment to making travel more accessible and affordable for our customers,” Singh said.

The launch comes as airlines continue to diversify fare options to cater to different travel preferences. Air India Express already offers cabin baggage-only fares on its network.

IndiGo, India’s largest airline by market share, currently operates more than 2,100 flights daily across its domestic and international network.
