Surat: An IndiGo flight travelling from Ahmedabad to Navi Mumbai was diverted to Surat on Monday evening after a three-year-old child fell unconscious during the journey, prompting an emergency medical response.
According to a senior airport official, the child’s condition suddenly deteriorated shortly after the aircraft took off from Ahmedabad, causing the pilot to declare a medical emergency and inform Air Traffic Control.
Responding to the situation, the flight was diverted to Surat Airport, where emergency response protocols were immediately activated.
The airport’s medical team, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel and IndiGo ground staff were deployed to assist upon the aircraft’s arrival.
After the flight landed, medical personnel boarded the aircraft, administered first aid to the child and shifted the patient to a private hospital in Surat for further treatment.
Following the medical evacuation and completion of the necessary technical and operational procedures, the flight resumed its journey to Navi Mumbai.
The airline has not yet disclosed the child’s medical condition or the cause of the health emergency.
