Mont-de-Marsan, France:The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to take part in the 8th edition of the joint air exercise ‘Garuda 25’ alongside the French Air and Space Force (FASF) from November 16 to 27. The IAF contingent, which arrived in France on November 10, will deploy Su-30MKI fighter aircraft for the exercise.
The induction and de-induction of Indian aircraft are being facilitated by C-17 Globemaster III airlift support, while IL-78 aerial refuelling tankers are enhancing the range and endurance of the fighters during missions.
Throughout the exercise, the Su-30MKIs will operate in conjunction with French multirole fighters, taking part in simulated air combat scenarios, including air-to-air engagements, air defence drills, and joint strike missions. The exercise is designed to test and refine tactical skills in realistic operational conditions, fostering greater interoperability between the two air forces.
Beyond operational drills, Garuda 25 provides a platform for professional exchanges, knowledge sharing, and interaction between personnel from both forces. The exercise highlights the IAF’s dedication to strengthening ties with friendly foreign air forces through joint operations, enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation in contemporary air warfare practices.
This edition of Garuda continues the long-standing tradition of bilateral collaboration between India and France in the field of defence aviation.
