New Delhi — India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has strongly condemned remarks reportedly made by Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff during his visit to the United States, calling them an example of “nuclear sabre-rattling,” which it described as Pakistan’s “stock-in-trade.”

In a statement issued on Monday, the MEA said such comments reflected irresponsibility and raised “well-held doubts” about the integrity of Pakistan’s nuclear command and control. The ministry further noted that these concerns are particularly serious in a state “where the military is hand-in-glove with terrorist groups.”

The statement also expressed regret that the remarks were made from the soil of “a friendly third country,” indirectly referring to the United States, and urged the international community to draw its own conclusions about the inherent recklessness in such pronouncements.

Reiterating its firm stance, India made it clear that it will not yield to “nuclear blackmail” and will continue to take all necessary measures to safeguard its national security.
