New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi used his Independence Day 2025 address from the historic Red Fort to send a clear and uncompromising message to Pakistan, stating that India will not draw any distinction between terrorists and those who support them. He affirmed that the Indian armed forces will determine the appropriate response to any future acts of aggression from across the border.

Referring to the recent Operation Sindoor, the Prime Minister praised the armed forces for carrying out what he described as an unprecedented strike deep inside Pakistani territory, inflicting significant damage on terrorist infrastructure. “Our soldiers responded to the Pahalgam attack with unmatched courage. The scale of destruction in Pakistan is becoming clearer with each passing day,” he said.

PM Modi highlighted that after the Pahalgam incident, the government granted the military complete autonomy to choose the timing, targets, and method of retaliation. “For decades, such decisive action was unseen. This time, we crossed deep into enemy soil and dismantled their terror hubs,” he remarked.

He stressed that India’s approach towards cross-border terrorism has fundamentally changed. “From now on, those who commit acts of terror and those who provide them shelter will be treated alike — both are equal threats to humanity,” Modi said, warning that any further misadventure would meet with a decisive and forceful reply.

The Prime Minister also revisited the issue of the Indus Water Treaty, calling it “unfair” and “one-sided” against India’s interests. He asserted that India’s rightful share of the Indus waters should be reserved exclusively for its farmers. “While our rivers have been sustaining the enemy nation, our farmers have suffered. This injustice will no longer continue. Blood and water cannot flow together,” he declared.

Concluding his address, PM Modi reiterated India’s resolve to protect its sovereignty and safeguard national interests, promising that the country would not bow to threats or provocations.
