Gurugram: A 15-year-old Class 10 student allegedly died by suicide in the Farrukhnagar area of Gurugram on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. The deceased, identified as Akash, was found in his family’s residence within the staff quarters of a private school. His father, Prabhat, has been employed as a peon at the institution for nearly 15 years, and the family, originally from Bihar’s Saran district, had been residing on the school premises throughout that period.

According to preliminary police reports, Akash reportedly used his mother’s scarf to hang himself while his parents were away at their respective workplaces. The discovery has left the local community and the school administration in deep shock. No suicide note was recovered from the scene, leaving the motive behind the extreme step unclear to both the family and investigators.

Gurugram Police have taken custody of the body and moved it to a government hospital for a post-mortem examination. A case has been registered under Section 174 of the CrPC (Inquiry into suicide), and officials are currently scanning the teenager’s mobile phone and speaking with his school friends to identify any potential academic or personal pressure. The school has remained closed on Tuesday as a mark of respect for the grieving family.
