Jalalabad: High tension gripped Jalalabad town in Punjab’s Fazilka district following a violent confrontation between two rival factions late Thursday night that culminated in a brazen shootout outside the local Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) office. Police acted swiftly in the aftermath, arresting two individuals and recovering an illegal firearm.
The altercation escalated after members of both groups began chasing each other on motorcycles across local streets. The pursuing faction followed closely behind and opened fire from outside the complex, with several stray rounds striking the official police building.
Law enforcement personnel on the scene immediately mobilised, cordoned off the vicinity, and apprehended two suspects identified as Sona Singh and Paramjit Singh, both residents of Jalalabad and adjacent areas.
