Gwalior: Four people lost their lives after a speeding truck collided with a car amid dense fog in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior district on Friday morning, police officials said.

The accident took place around 8 am near a roadside dhaba in the Maharajpura area along the Gwalior-Bhind highway. Poor visibility caused by thick fog is believed to have played a major role in the crash.

According to police, the truck hit the car with great force while it was travelling on the highway, killing all four occupants on the spot. The victims were residents of Bhind district and were on their way to Gwalior at the time of the incident.

One of the deceased has been identified as Saurabh Sharma, aged 24, who was driving the car and heading to Gwalior to appear for an examination. Two other victims were identified as Jyoti Yadav and Bhure Prajapati, while the identity of the fourth person is yet to be confirmed.

The truck driver fled the scene immediately after the collision, police said. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and a search operation has been launched to trace the absconding driver.

Police have initiated further investigation into the incident and are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the truck involved in the crash.
