Bengaluru: A police complaint has been filed against Aryan Khan, son of actor Shah Rukh Khan, for allegedly displaying an obscene gesture toward the crowd during a public event at a Bengaluru pub on November 28.

The complaint, submitted by advocate Owaiz Hussain S of Sankey Road, seeks the registration of an FIR, claiming that Aryan Khan was seen showing his middle finger to attendees at the event. Hussain addressed his complaint to the DGP, the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner, the DCP (Central Division), the Inspector of Cubbon Park Police Station, and the Karnataka State Women’s Commission.

The complaint alleges that several women were present at the venue when the gesture was made, arguing that the act insulted their modesty and amounted to vulgar and indecent behaviour in a public place under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The advocate noted that the incident caused “public discomfort, embarrassment and emotional distress” and said it projected Bengaluru poorly as a city known for safe public spaces.

The complainant listed three grounds: the intentional use of an obscene gesture in the presence of women, performing an act likely to cause annoyance or distress, and conduct that could trigger public disorder or alarm, citing viral footage and the widespread backlash that followed.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Hakay Akshay Machhindra said the police began a suo motu inquiry after social media posts highlighted the incident. CCTV footage from the pub has been collected, and the case is being examined under Section 173 B of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
