Farmers Reiterate Demand for MSP Law at Delhi Mahapanchayat

New Delhi: Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal on Monday reaffirmed that a legal guarantee on minimum support price (MSP) for all crops is a demand shared by farmers nationwide, not just those from Punjab and Haryana.

He made the remarks while addressing the ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’ at Jantar Mantar, where farmers from several states gathered to press their demands.

The meeting highlighted three major issues—a law ensuring MSP on all crops, exclusion of agriculture, dairy, poultry, and fisheries from any proposed trade agreement with the United States, and the withdrawal of police cases filed against farmers during the 2020-21 protests.

Dallewal said the gathering was intended to show the government that the demand for MSP law extends far beyond regional concerns. “Farmers from across the country are united on this,” he emphasized.

The SKM urged large-scale participation in the protest, assuring that the mahapanchayat would remain peaceful. The gathering comes nearly four years after the farmers’ movement at Delhi’s borders, which had compelled the Centre to repeal the three controversial farm laws.

According to officials, around 1,200 police personnel have been deployed at the site to maintain law and order during the event.
