Mumbai: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out coordinated searches at several locations in Mumbai and Hyderabad on Friday as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged money laundering involving Reliance Power Ltd., a company associated with industrialist Anil Ambani.

According to officials familiar with the operation, around 10 to 12 premises connected to the firm and its senior executives were being examined during the raids. The searches were conducted simultaneously in both cities as investigators sought documents and digital records linked to the case.

Roughly 15 teams of ED officials were deployed for the operation, indicating the scale of the investigation. The action forms part of a broader probe into suspected financial irregularities and alleged bank fraud involving companies associated with the Anil Ambani-led business group.

Sources within the agency said investigators are reviewing financial transactions and corporate records related to multiple firms believed to be connected to the case. The probe focuses on tracing the movement of funds and identifying whether proceeds of alleged financial wrongdoing were diverted or concealed through complex transactions.

The latest searches come shortly after the ED took action in the same investigation by provisionally attaching a high-value property belonging to Anil Ambani in Mumbai. The residence, known as “Abode,” is estimated to be worth around ₹3,500 crore and was linked by investigators to the ongoing money laundering inquiry.

Officials said the investigation is continuing and further steps may follow depending on the evidence gathered during the searches. The ED has been examining several companies tied to the business group as it attempts to establish the full scope of the alleged financial misconduct.

The agency has not yet released a detailed public statement on the latest round of searches, but sources indicated that the operation is part of the enforcement body’s efforts to track suspected financial crimes and recover assets connected to them.
