New Delhi: The Election Commission on Sunday announced a one-week extension for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls being carried out in nine states and three Union Territories. The decision comes as booth-level officers continue field visits and voter verification drives under the large-scale enumeration process.

In an official statement, the Commission said that the distribution of enumeration forms, initially scheduled to conclude on December 4, will now continue until December 11. As a result, the publication of draft electoral rolls has also been pushed forward from December 9 to December 16.

The final electoral rolls, which were earlier slated for release on February 7, will now be published on February 14, 2026.

The SIR exercise in these states and UTs was originally notified on October 27 as part of the EC’s nationwide effort to ensure cleaner and more accurate voter lists ahead of multiple state elections scheduled for 2026.
