New Delhi: Former Prime Minister and eminent economist Late Dr Manmohan Singh has been posthumously awarded the P V Narasimha Rao Memorial Award for Economics in recognition of his pivotal role in shaping India’s economic reforms and strengthening nation-building.
The award was presented in the national capital last week by Montek Singh Ahluwalia, former Deputy Chairman of the erstwhile Planning Commission and a distinguished fellow at the Centre for Social and Economic Progress. On behalf of Dr Singh, his wife Gursharan Kaur received the honour.
The Hyderabad-based PV Narasimha Rao Memorial Foundation (PVNMF), which instituted the award to acknowledge remarkable contributions in the field of economics, confirmed the development in a statement. PVNMF President K Ramchandra Murthy and General Secretary Madhamchetty Anil Kumar were also present during the ceremony.
