New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the first day of Navratri 2025 with a spiritual tribute, sharing a rendition of the bhajan “Ya Devi Sarv Bhuteshu” on his X handle. Calling the festival a celebration of devotion, he credited the late Pandit Jasraj for the soulful composition and urged people to share their own bhajan creations or favourites, promising to highlight them throughout the nine days of festivities.
In another post, the Prime Minister extended his greetings to the nation, wishing that the sacred festival bring strength, faith, and positivity into people’s lives. “Infinite Navratri greetings to all of you. May this sacred festival, filled with devotion, courage, restraint, and determination, bring new strength and new faith into everyone’s life. Jai Mata Di,” he wrote. He also reminded that the first day of Navratri is dedicated to Maa Shailputri and wished that her blessings bring good fortune and health to all.
Sharadiya Navratri, celebrated during the lunar month of Ashwin, spans nine nights in honour of Goddess Durga’s divine energy. Each day is devoted to a different form of the goddess, symbolising strength, compassion, and wisdom. Across India, devotees observe fasting, sing devotional songs, and take part in traditional dances like Garba and Dandiya, creating an atmosphere of joy and devotion. The festival will culminate on October 2 with Vijayadashami, also known as Dussehra.
