New Delhi: Devotees across the country gathered in large numbers at Shiva temples on the last Monday of the holy month of Sawan, offering prayers and seeking blessings of Lord Shiva.

From the early hours of the morning, temples witnessed long queues as devotees performed abhishek, offered milk, water, flowers and bel leaves to Shivlings, and chanted prayers in an atmosphere filled with religious fervour.

The final Monday of Sawan holds special significance for devotees of Lord Shiva. Many observed fasts and participated in special puja ceremonies, while temples organised elaborate rituals and devotional programmes to mark the occasion.

Temples Witness Heavy Footfall

Major Shiva shrines in different parts of the country saw a significant rise in the number of devotees. Special arrangements were made at several temples to manage the crowds and ensure the smooth movement of worshippers.

Security personnel and volunteers were deployed at prominent religious sites, while arrangements were also made for drinking water, medical assistance and crowd management.

Devotees Observe Sawan Traditions

The month of Sawan is considered particularly auspicious for worshipping Lord Shiva. Devotees traditionally visit temples during the month, observe fasts and offer prayers as part of their religious practices.

The last Monday brought an added sense of devotion, with worshippers turning up in large numbers despite early morning crowds. Many devotees also carried out traditional rituals and sought blessings for the well-being and prosperity of their families.

As the final Monday of Sawan concluded, temples across India remained immersed in devotional chants, prayers and celebrations, bringing the month-long period of religious observance to a spiritual close.
