New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday agreed to urgently hear a public interest litigation seeking a National Investigation Agency probe into the July 20 Sansad Chalo demonstration staged over the alleged NEET examination paper leak. A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice D.K. Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia scheduled the matter for hearing on Friday after advocate Barun Kumar Sinha requested an urgent listing, contending that the agitation had brought large parts of the national capital to a standstill and severely disrupted daily public movement.

Filed by Satish Kumar Aggarwal, former vice-president of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, the petition alleges that what began as a student demonstration was hijacked by anti-India elements, political actors, and foreign-funded organizations to exploit public unrest. The plea highlights that the July 20 march involved coordinated violence, stone-pelting, property damage, attacks on journalists, injuries to police officers, and deliberate attempts to breach Parliament security. It specifically calls for the transfer of all related first information reports from Delhi Police to the NIA or another specialized central agency to examine potential foreign funding and external influence.

The petition further highlights the involvement of several prominent figures and political leaders, claiming their presence altered the course of the demonstration. It seeks scrutiny into the institutional associations and foreign funding sources of social activist Sonam Wangchuk, while pointing to the participation of author Arundhati Roy and leaders from the Aam Aadmi Party, Samajwadi Party, and Azad Samaj Party. Contending that the events surrounding the march transcend standard law-and-order concerns, the petitioner requested court-monitored directions to identify, consolidate, and prosecute all individuals responsible for the violence and disruption of emergency services.
