Nagpur: At least 15 people lost their lives after a powerful explosion tore through an explosives manufacturing facility in Maharashtra’s Nagpur district on Sunday morning, authorities confirmed.
The incident occurred at a unit operated by SBL Energy Limited in Raulgaon village, located in Katol tehsil. According to senior police officials, the blast took place shortly after 7 am within the company’s detonator packing section.
Company representatives stated that the explosion happened between 7 am and 7.15 am, triggering panic in the surrounding area. The force of the blast caused significant damage inside the premises, prompting immediate emergency response measures.
Several injured workers were rushed to a hospital in Nagpur for treatment. Officials have not yet released detailed information about the condition of the survivors.
Rescue teams and local authorities are continuing search and relief operations at the site to ensure no one remains trapped under debris. A senior company official said a formal statement would be issued after preliminary assessments are completed.
