Noida: A shocking case of child abuse has emerged from a day care facility in Paras Tierra Society, Sector 137, Noida, where a 15-month-old girl was allegedly subjected to inhuman treatment by a staff member. The disturbing incident, which took place on August 4, was captured on the centre’s CCTV cameras and has triggered outrage over the safety of children in such institutions.

According to police, the accused — a minor maid employed at the day care — was seen in the footage repeatedly slapping the toddler, hurling her onto the floor, striking her with a plastic belt, and even biting her. The child’s mother raised the alarm after noticing circular bite marks on her daughter’s thighs while changing her clothes at home.

The mother reported the matter to the Sector-142 police station, alleging that neither the day care head nor any staff member attempted to intervene during the assault. She further claimed that when confronted, both the maid and the head of the facility used abusive language and issued threats.

Police acted swiftly, arresting the accused and conducting a medical examination of the victim, which confirmed the injuries were consistent with bite marks. Officials have also verified the assault through CCTV footage, which clearly depicts the girl being thrown to the ground and crying in distress.

Authorities say the case has raised serious concerns about oversight and accountability in day care operations, with many parents now questioning whether such facilities are adequately staffed, trained, and monitored.

The accused remains in custody while the investigation continues. Meanwhile, child welfare advocates are calling for stricter regulations and surprise inspections to ensure no child endures such cruelty under the guise of care.
