New Delhi: Customs officers at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi have intercepted two passengers arriving from Bangkok, Thailand, seizing 18.15 kilograms of suspected hydroponic weed. The travelers were intercepted after clearing the Customs Green Channel on July 30, following targeted profiling conducted through the Advance Passenger Information System. Hydroponic weed refers to a high-potency variant of cannabis cultivated in nutrient-infused water rather than traditional soil.

The interception occurred after X-ray screening of the suspects’ luggage revealed irregular imaging patterns. A subsequent detailed examination of the baggage led to the discovery of 17 vacuum-sealed packages containing a green substance identified as suspected hydroponic marijuana. Officials confirmed that the contraband had been deliberately concealed within the baggage to evade detection during security checks.

Both individuals were arrested under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, with the contraband and concealing materials impounded by authorities. Law enforcement personnel have initiated a broader investigation to identify the origin of the seized narcotics and determine their intended distribution network.
