New Delhi: In a welcome move for small and medium enterprises, the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders has been lowered in key metropolitan areas starting Saturday, November 1. The reduction comes amid frequent price adjustments in recent months.
According to updates from state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs), the new retail rates for commercial cylinders in major cities are as follows:
- Delhi: Rs 1,590.50 (down Rs 5)
- Kolkata: Rs 1,694.00 (down Rs 6.50)
- Mumbai: Rs 1,542.00 (down Rs 5)
- Chennai: Rs 1,750.00 (down Rs 4.50)
Kolkata registered the largest decline, with prices dropping by Rs 6.50 per cylinder. The reduction follows a Rs 15.50 hike in September, signaling a partial rollback for commercial consumers.
Impact on Businesses
The price cut is expected to ease the operational costs for sectors heavily reliant on LPG, including restaurants, hotels, and catering services, which have been navigating fluctuating fuel costs over the past months.
Industry experts note that while the reduction is modest, it provides some relief to businesses managing tight margins and high overheads.
Domestic LPG Prices Unchanged
The rates for domestic LPG cylinders remain unaffected across all cities, ensuring that household consumers continue to pay the same prices as before.
With this adjustment, commercial LPG users in metro cities can expect slightly lower expenses, offering temporary respite as fuel prices continue to see periodic revisions.
This move highlights the government’s ongoing monitoring of energy costs for both domestic and commercial consumers, especially amid fluctuating global fuel prices.
