CHITRAKOOT, UP — The principal of a government primary school in Chitrakoot has been placed under immediate suspension after a controversial video surfaced on social media appearing to show students providing her with a massage. The action was confirmed on Monday, March 9, 2026, by District Basic Education Officer (BSA) B.K. Sharma, who initiated the suspension following a preliminary investigation into the footage.
The official, identified as Madhu Rai, was the head of a primary school located in the Naya Bazar area. The video in question, which began circulating two days ago, reportedly depicts the principal lying on the floor while several schoolgirls are seen massaging her hands and legs. The imagery sparked significant outrage online, leading to an urgent inquiry led by City Education Officer Praveen Kumar Dixit.
The inquiry report submitted by Dixit found the allegations to be prima facie true, prompting the BSA to sign off on the suspension order. In addition to her removal from the school premises, a formal departmental inquiry has been launched to determine the full extent of the misconduct. During the period of her suspension, Rai has been reassigned to the district headquarters to ensure she does not influence the ongoing probe.
Local education authorities have emphasized that such behaviour is a clear violation of professional conduct and have vowed to take strict action to maintain the integrity of the educational system. The incident has once again brought the issue of teacher accountability in rural government schools to the forefront of public discussion in Uttar Pradesh.
