Chhattisgarh Blast: 4 CRPF Personnel Injured During Explosives Disposal In Sukma, 2 ASIs Seriously Hurt

Sukma: Four Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were injured, two of them seriously, in an accidental blast during the disposal of unserviceable and leftover explosives in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district, police said on Friday.

The incident occurred on Thursday evening near the Elarmadgu security camp, which falls under the jurisdiction of Bheji police station.

An Ammunition Technical Team (ATT) of the CRPF’s 50th battalion had arrived from Jagdalpur to inspect security camps in the area and dispose of explosives that were no longer serviceable.

Where Did The Blast Take Place In Sukma?

The blast occurred near Bodrajpadar Nala, around 200 metres from the Elarmadgu security camp under the Konta range.

According to an official, the team was carrying out the disposal process while following prescribed safety protocols when a fragment of an explosive flew off, landed nearby and detonated.

Four personnel deployed for security and the disposal operation were injured in the explosion.

Who Are The Four CRPF Personnel Injured In The Blast?

The injured personnel were identified as:

  • Assistant Sub-Inspector M K Tiwari
  • Inspector Amarnath Mishra
  • Assistant Sub-Inspector Anees Khan
  • Head Constable Kuldeep Raj

Tiwari and Mishra were members of the Ammunition Technical Team, while Khan and Raj belonged to the CRPF’s 50th battalion.

Both Assistant Sub-Inspectors sustained serious injuries, according to the official.

What Is The Condition Of The Injured CRPF Personnel?

The injured personnel were given first aid immediately after the blast and shifted to the government hospital in Konta.

Arrangements were being made to transfer those seriously injured to another medical facility for advanced treatment, the official said.

The incident occurred during a planned operation to safely dispose of unserviceable and leftover explosives. Further details about the injured personnel’s condition were not immediately available.
