Guwahati: A tragic incident has unfolded within the sacred premises of the Maa Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati, where a local man was brutally beaten to death. The victim, identified as Rupam Das, was a resident of the Kamakhya locality. The shocking nature of the crime inside the high-security temple complex has sent shockwaves through the local community and devotees.
The police acted swiftly following the incident and arrested the accused, identified as Rahul Pathak, who was reportedly residing in the area as a tenant. According to preliminary reports, an altercation escalated violently, during which the accused allegedly assaulted Das repeatedly with a bamboo stick, inflicting fatal injuries that led to his immediate death.
Given the sensitivity and high-profile location of the crime, top investigative agencies were deployed immediately.
