Vadodara/Ahmedabad: As many as 32 schools in Gujarat received bomb threats via email on Monday, triggering panic among parents and authorities. The affected institutions include 17 schools in Vadodara and 15 in Ahmedabad.

According to officials, the threatening email claimed that “Gujarat will become Khalistan” and that “India will be broken into pieces.” As news of the threat spread, anxious parents rushed to schools to take their children home.

Bomb disposal squads and dog squads were deployed to conduct thorough searches of the school premises. Authorities evacuated all campuses as a precautionary measure and began checking classrooms, vehicles and surrounding areas. The hostel of Urmi School in Vadodara was also vacated to ensure student safety.

Vadodara Police Commissioner Narasimha Kumar said that teachers and students had been sent home and investigations were ongoing. Search operations have been completed at nine schools so far, while checks continue at the remaining institutions. A case has been registered at the cyber crime police station, and efforts are underway to trace the origin and identity of the sender of the email.

Meanwhile, similar threats have surfaced in other states as well.

In Uttarakhand, the district court in Nainital received a bomb threat via email, prompting lawyers and court staff to vacate their chambers. According to District Bar Association president Bhagwat Prasad, the threat email warned that the court would be blown up by 1 pm.

In Uttar Pradesh, district courts in Lucknow, Ayodhya, Varanasi, Meerut and Azamgarh also received similar bomb threats via email. Authorities conducted search operations across court premises. Officials noted that comparable threats had been received through email just two days earlier.

Police across states are investigating the incidents and working to determine whether the threats are linked. No explosives have been recovered so far.
