Ayodhya: Ayodhya, the sacred city of Lord Ram, is undergoing a spectacular transformation ahead of the ninth edition of Deepotsav. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision to establish Ayodhya as a global pilgrimage and tourism hub is materializing through a series of large-scale projects, according to an official government release.

To enhance the experience for devotees and visitors, major development works have been carried out at Ram Ki Paidi, one of the city’s most iconic ghats. In 2023–24, the Uttar Pradesh government completed the construction of about 350 meters of steps and a grand spectator gallery at a cost of ₹2,324.55 lakh. The newly developed area can now accommodate between 18,000 and 20,000 people at a time, offering both comfort and an improved visual appeal during the grand festivities.

For the ongoing financial year 2024–25, a new project worth ₹2,367.61 lakh has been approved to further enhance the ghat’s grandeur. This includes the construction of eight mini amphitheatres, six intricately designed stone canopies, eight majestic lamps, and seven-meter-high stone pillars. The site will also feature modern lighting systems and landscaped surroundings, seamlessly blending heritage with contemporary aesthetics to create a mesmerizing atmosphere for pilgrims and tourists alike.

UPPCL Project Manager Manoj Sharma said that under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, the ongoing projects in Ayodhya are not just about infrastructure but represent a broader cultural revival. “These initiatives are transforming Ayodhya into a symbol of India’s spiritual and cultural resurgence. We aim to finish all projects ahead of schedule while maintaining the highest quality standards,” he stated.

District Magistrate Nikhil Tikaram added that all construction activities are being carried out through UPPCL. He emphasized that the beautification of Ram Ki Paidi and the Saryu ghats has elevated Ayodhya’s global reputation, while also giving a strong boost to the local economy and tourism industry. “These projects not only safeguard the city’s heritage but also ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors,” he said.

As Ayodhya prepares to welcome thousands for Deepotsav, the city stands as a glowing testament to the balance between devotion, culture, and modern development.
