New Delhi: An Akasa Air flight operating between Pune and Delhi encountered a bird strike on Thursday, October 10, 2025, prompting a precautionary inspection of the aircraft. The incident occurred during flight QP 1607 but did not result in any injuries.

According to a statement from an Akasa Air spokesperson, the aircraft landed safely at Delhi airport, and all passengers and crew were deplaned without any issues.

“Our engineering team is currently conducting a detailed inspection of the aircraft in line with Akasa Air’s standard operating procedures. The aircraft will return to service only after completing all safety checks,” the spokesperson said.

The airline has not disclosed the exact timing of the incident or whether the bird strike occurred during takeoff, en route, or on descent. However, the prompt response from the crew and the ground team ensured that passenger safety was not compromised.

Bird strikes, while relatively common in aviation, are taken seriously due to the potential risk they pose to aircraft engines and systems. Indian aviation authorities regularly advise airports on bird hazard management to reduce such incidents, especially near major urban airports like Pune and Delhi.

Akasa Air, which has been expanding its domestic network since its launch, emphasized that safety remains its top priority. Passengers on the affected flight were either accommodated on alternate flights or provided assistance as per airline policy.

Further updates will be provided once the inspection is complete and the aircraft is cleared for operations.
