Ajay Kumar Bhalla Given Additional Charge as Nagaland Governor After La Ganesan’s Demise

New Delhi– Following the demise of Nagaland Governor La Ganesan, President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday assigned Ajay Kumar Bhalla, the Governor of Manipur, to take over the responsibilities of Nagaland in addition to his current role.

The Rashtrapati Bhavan confirmed that Bhalla will assume charge with immediate effect.

Bhalla, a retired IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, hails from Jalandhar, Punjab. He was appointed as Manipur Governor on December 24, 2024. Before this, he served as Union Home Secretary from August 2019 to August 2024.
