New Delhi: An Air India flight travelling from Delhi to Patna suffered a suspected bird strike while landing at Patna airport on Monday morning, prompting authorities to carry out an inspection of the runway.

The incident involving Air India flight AI 1741 occurred at around 7:44 am when the aircraft, carrying 164 passengers, was approaching the airport for landing.

Pilot Reports Suspected Bird Strike

According to an airport official, the pilot reported a suspected bird strike during the landing process. The aircraft, however, landed safely following the incident.

Authorities subsequently conducted an inspection of the runway as a precautionary measure.

All 164 passengers on board were reported safe, and there was no disruption to other flight operations at the airport.

Flight Operations At Patna Airport Remain Unaffected

The airport official said bird strikes are not uncommon, particularly during the rainy season when increased avian activity can pose a challenge around airports.

Authorities regularly monitor bird and animal movement in the vicinity of the airport. A committee conducts inspections every month to identify areas requiring cleaning or other measures aimed at reducing such activity.

Reports are prepared following these inspections to highlight locations where action may be required.

No further disruption to operations was reported following Monday morning’s incident.
