New Delhi: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has strongly criticized the Bar Council of India (BCI) over its decision to temporarily bar the enrolment of the 2026 graduating batch of NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. Although the BCI subsequently withdrew the directive, the student organization termed the entire episode a reflection of a deeply flawed approach and urged regulatory bodies to strictly adhere to due process before taking arbitrary measures affecting students’ careers.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, the ABVP emphasized that graduating students who had no involvement in any alleged wrongdoing should never have been subjected to professional repercussions. The organization stated that penalizing innocent students for institutional disputes or controversies is neither just nor acceptable, adding that regulatory authorities must ensure their decisions are firmly grounded in facts, fair inquiry, and proper administrative procedure.
The student group called upon the BCI and other regulatory bodies to exercise caution and avoid issuing arbitrary directions that can jeopardize the academic and professional prospects of law graduates. The criticism follows the BCI’s controversial freeze on the enrolment of NALSAR’s 2026 batch with State Bar Councils, a decision that was rapidly rolled back within hours following widespread pushback from student bodies and legal circles across the country.
