Jaisalmer: The Border Security Force (BSF) has detained a 21-year-old man near the India–Pakistan border in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district for allegedly attempting to cross into Pakistani territory. Officials said the man, identified as Pankaj Kashyap from Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh, was spotted moving suspiciously close to the border on Sunday.

BSF personnel intercepted Kashyap during a routine patrol near the canal area under the jurisdiction of Mohangarh police station. His movement raised suspicion, prompting the patrol team to stop him for questioning.

During the initial interrogation, the youth reportedly admitted that he intended to cross over to Pakistan. The BSF then handed him over to the local police for further investigation.

Police officials said Kashyap will be questioned in detail by security agencies at the Joint Interrogation Centre on Monday to determine his motive, possible handlers, and background.
