Sirmaur (Himachal Pradesh): A devastating fire claimed the lives of six members of a family in the early hours of Thursday in Talagna village of Sirmaur district, officials said. The incident occurred in Nohradhar tehsil, under the Ghanduri Patwar Circle, leaving the local community in shock.
The fire broke out at around 2 am at the house of Mohan Singh while seven people were asleep inside. According to preliminary information, the flames spread swiftly through the structure, leaving those inside with little chance to escape. One person survived, while the remaining six were trapped and burned to death.
Those who lost their lives were identified as Naresh, a resident of Taproli in Rajgarh, his wife Tripta, Kavita from Chaupal’s Kumda village, and three children — Sarika, Kritika and Kritic. The family was visiting Talagna and staying as guests at Mohan Singh’s home at the time of the incident. Officials said the severity of the fire severely damaged the bodies, complicating the process of identification.
Kavita’s husband, Lokender, aged 42, was pulled out of the burning house by villagers. He sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Solan, where doctors described his condition as critical.
Soon after the incident, police and district administration officials reached the spot to carry out rescue and relief work. A probe has been initiated to determine what triggered the blaze, while further details are awaited.
Authorities said assistance is being extended to the affected family, as investigations continue into one of the deadliest residential fires reported in the area in recent times.
