Chamba: Seven people, including three brothers, lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district late Wednesday night after a Bolero vehicle plunged nearly 500 metres into a deep gorge.
The accident occurred near Mani Zero on the Pukhri-Masroond road when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle while returning from a family function. All seven occupants died on the spot.
According to officials, the victims were residents of Mahal village under Kuthed Panchayat and were returning home after attending a tonsure ceremony in Kakadotha village. The vehicle went off the road and fell into the gorge, leaving no survivors.
The impact of the crash was so severe that the vehicle was completely mangled. Local residents rushed to the spot after learning about the accident and joined rescue efforts. Villagers climbed down into the gorge and helped recover the bodies before police and administrative teams arrived.
Residents of the area alleged that no crash barriers had been installed along the stretch where the accident took place. They claimed that proper safety measures could have reduced the severity of the tragedy.
Chamba Superintendent of Police Vijay Saklani confirmed the incident and said all seven bodies had been recovered from the gorge. The process of identifying the deceased was underway, and a case has been registered to investigate the exact cause of the accident.
