Landslide Disrupts Movement in Shimla’s Lower Khalini Area

Shimla: A major landslide struck the Lower Khalini locality of Shimla early Monday morning, severely impacting traffic movement along the stretch connecting Jhanjidi Road to Bihar Village Road. The incident occurred around 5 a.m., leaving residents struggling to commute at the start of the day.

While schools and colleges were already shut today following orders issued earlier by Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, sparing students from disruption, daily wage earners and office-goers faced significant hardship as even small vehicles were unable to navigate the blocked road. Only heavy vehicles are reported to be making limited passage.

Locals have appealed to the district administration for urgent clearance and restoration of the route, highlighting that the blocked road is a crucial link for residents of the area. Authorities are yet to announce a timeline for reopening the road, but are monitoring the situation closely.
