Nuh: A pre-wedding celebration in Haryana’s Nuh district took a violent turn after a female dancer was assaulted on stage for resisting unwanted advances from a guest. The incident occurred in Pachgaon village, where a group of performers had been hired for a function ahead of an upcoming wedding.
A video of the episode, now widely circulated online, shows a man stepping toward the dancer and attempting to touch her in an inappropriate manner. She reacted immediately, pushing his hand away. What followed was a sudden escalation: the man struck her, prompting a group of onlookers to rush in and join the attack.
According to witnesses, multiple dancers were beaten and had their clothes torn as chaos broke out around the stage. Members of the performing troupe eventually managed to pull the women away and escort them to safety.
The footage has triggered public anger, with many calling for swift police action and questioning the safety of performers at private events. Local authorities confirmed on Wednesday that they are looking into the matter. However, no FIR had been registered at the time this report was filed.
Police officials said efforts are underway to identify the attackers seen in the video and to record statements from the victims. They added that appropriate action will be taken once the inquiry is complete.
The incident has renewed concerns about the vulnerability of performers who work in informal event settings, particularly in rural areas where security arrangements are minimal.
