Vaishno Devi Yatra Suspended Temporarily Due to Adverse Weather Forecast

Katra: The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has announced a temporary suspension of the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage in light of severe weather conditions predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The Board stated: “In view of the inclement weather advisory issued by IMD, Vaishno Devi Yatra shall remain suspended from 5th to 7th October 2025 & will resume on 8 October.” The decision comes as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of pilgrims, given the likelihood of heavy rainfall and potential landslides in the region.

The Vaishno Devi shrine, situated in the Trikuta Hills of Jammu and Kashmir, attracts lakhs of devotees every year. However, the hilly terrain and narrow pathways can pose significant risks during extreme weather events. Local authorities, in coordination with the Shrine Board, have urged pilgrims to defer their travel plans and stay updated through official channels.

Emergency services and security personnel have been put on alert, and arrangements are in place to support pilgrims already present in the area. The Shrine Board has also assured that the yatra will resume once conditions improve, with normal operations expected to recommence on October 8.

Travelers are advised to keep track of weather updates and follow any further advisories issued by the administration.
