Hisar: A senior police officer in Haryana lost his life after being assaulted by a group of miscreants outside his residence in Shamlal Dhani, Hisar, late Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Kumar (57), a sub-inspector posted with the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) office in Hisar. According to reports, Kumar had intervened earlier to stop a group of youths from causing a disturbance in his neighborhood. Later, the same group returned and began hurling abuses near his house.
When Kumar stepped out to confront them, he was attacked with bricks and sticks, succumbing to his injuries on the spot. The attackers fled, abandoning a car and two two-wheelers at the scene.
Senior police officials rushed to the location following the incident and have launched an investigation. A murder case has been registered, and the seized vehicles are being examined for leads. Special teams have been deployed to track down the suspects who remain at large.
The shocking incident has raised concerns about the safety of law enforcement personnel and has prompted calls for swift action against the assailants.
