CHANDIGARH: In a major breakthrough against transnational organised crime amidst the ongoing drive to eliminate gangster networks in Punjab as per the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has taken custody of close associate of Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi following his deportation from Canada, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav said here on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as Karamveer Singh, a resident of Village Bahadur Ke in Ludhiana, was apprehended by the AGTF team at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, New Delhi upon his arrival.
The development came close on the heels of Punjab Police, with the assistance of Central Agencies, has secured the extradition of fugitive criminal Amritpal Singh alias Amrit Dalam, a key operative of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria Gang, from the Republic of Moldova.
