Chandigarh, June 5: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday reviewed the progress of the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna (MMSY) and said the healthcare initiative has emerged as a major support system for families across the state. According to the Chief Minister, 3.79 lakh patients have already received cashless medical treatment worth ₹654 crore under the scheme.

Chairing a review meeting, Bhagwant Singh Mann said the Punjab Government remains committed to providing quality and affordable healthcare services to every family. He added that the scheme has received a strong response from the public and is helping move the state towards broader healthcare coverage.

Over 47 Lakh Health Cards Issued

The Chief Minister informed that 47.27 lakh health cards have been issued so far under the scheme, covering approximately 23.01 lakh families across Punjab.

According to official data, 48.5 percent of the beneficiaries are men, while 51.5 percent are women. Around 31 percent of the health cards have been issued in urban areas, whereas 69 percent have been distributed in rural regions.

Bhagwant Singh Mann said the government is continuously working to improve accessibility and convenience for beneficiaries. To simplify the process of obtaining health cards, a dedicated WhatsApp-based facility and a special web portal are being developed to help people download their e-cards more easily.

He also informed that a mobile application-based registration system is under development and is expected to be launched soon.

Free Treatment Available in Government and Private Hospitals

Sharing details of the medical services provided under the scheme, the Chief Minister said that beneficiaries have availed treatment worth ₹654 crore in both government and private hospitals across Punjab.

To ensure wider access to healthcare facilities, 835 hospitals have been empanelled under the scheme. These include 223 government hospitals and 612 private hospitals.

The government stated that the extensive network of hospitals allows beneficiaries to access treatment closer to their homes and reduces the financial burden associated with healthcare.

Scheme Aims to Cover All Families in Punjab

Bhagwant Singh Mann said the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna has been designed to provide health coverage to all 65 lakh families in Punjab. Under the scheme, each eligible family is entitled to cashless treatment of up to ₹10 lakh annually.

Describing the initiative as a significant step in improving healthcare delivery, the Chief Minister said the scheme has helped many families avoid high out-of-pocket medical expenses and ensured that financial limitations do not become a barrier to receiving quality treatment.

Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh and senior government officials were also present during the review meeting.
