MOHALI, March 12, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday handed over appointment letters to 818 youth across various departments under Mission Rozgar, taking the total number of government jobs provided by the state to 65,264 over the last four years.

Addressing a gathering during the appointment letter distribution ceremony, the Chief Minister said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to providing transparent and merit-based employment opportunities to the youth. He informed that the recruits include 459 in the Power Department, 215 in the Local Government Department, 129 in the Health and Family Welfare Department, and 15 in the Medical Education Department.

Focus on Merit and Transparency

Mann emphasized that all jobs have been provided strictly on the basis of merit and transparency, without any recommendation or favour. He also announced that recruitment for 1,750 additional posts in the Power Department is currently underway and is expected to be completed by June 2026.

He noted that before 2022, youth in Punjab were deprived of government jobs for several years, but the current government has ensured employment opportunities across villages, towns and cities through Mission Rozgar.

The Chief Minister urged the newly recruited youth to work with honesty and dedication, stating that they are now part of the government system and will play a key role in building a vibrant and prosperous Punjab.

Welfare Measures and Government Vision

Mann said providing jobs to youth is not a favour but their rightful opportunity based on talent and capability. He encouraged the recruits to serve society and support the underprivileged sections.

He highlighted that the Punjab Government is using public funds for welfare initiatives, including free electricity to over 90 percent of households and daytime power supply to farmers.

Referring to schemes for women, he said that under the Mukh Mantri Mavaan Dhian Satkar scheme, women from the general category will receive ₹1,000 per month, while those from Scheduled Caste categories will receive ₹1,500 per month. He described this assistance as meaningful support for ordinary families.

Stories of Youth and Renewed Hope

Several newly recruited candidates expressed gratitude to the government, stating that they secured jobs purely on merit without paying any bribe. Many shared that they had earlier lost hope but regained confidence due to the transparent recruitment process.

Some candidates also highlighted that they returned from abroad to take up government jobs in Punjab, reflecting growing trust in the state’s employment system.

The Chief Minister added that people-centric governance has changed the political landscape, with the focus now shifting towards public welfare and inclusive development.
