CHANDIGARH/AMRITSAR: In a major breakthrough amidst the ongoing drive against cross-border smuggling networks as per the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Amritsar Rural Police has dismantled two separate illegal arms and narcotics supply networks with the arrest of four individuals and recovered 10 kg heroin and 10 illegal pistols from their possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Friday.
Those arrested have been identified as Rajanpreet Singh, a resident of Galluwal; Vijay, a resident of Rajatal Colony in Gharinda; Parasdeep Singh alias Billa, a resident of Kamboa; and Gurmukh Singh alias Bodi, a resident of Kahangarh, Attari.
Sharing operational details, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Border Range Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that in the first operation, acting on specific information regarding illegal weapons supply, a police team from Police Station Gharinda intercepted and apprehended Rajanpreet Singh and Vijay, seizing 10 illegal pistols from their possession.
