NEW DELHI, April 3, 2026: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has strongly reacted to Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha’s statement regarding his removal from the post of Deputy Leader, calling it a routine decision while also raising serious questions about his conduct in Parliament.
The party alleged that Chadha has repeatedly gone against the party line and avoided raising key issues against the BJP-led central government.
Party Questions Silence on Key Issues
AAP leaders said that Raghav Chadha has been reluctant to speak against the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on important national matters.
They pointed out that he refused to sign a proposal related to impeachment of the Chief Election Commissioner and did not speak in Parliament on issues like the LPG crisis. The party also claimed that Chadha has not raised any major issue in Parliament questioning the central government for a long time.
Senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh said that party members are expected to fight fearlessly on public issues, as taught by party leader Arvind Kejriwal.
He added, “On several important matters, including election-related issues and public concerns, Raghav Chadha remained silent. This raises serious questions about his role.”
Bhagwant Mann Calls It a Routine Party Decision
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann described the development as an internal party matter.
He said that political parties often change their leaders and deputy leaders in Parliament based on decisions taken collectively. He added that if any member goes against the party’s collective decisions or whip, action is taken.
Leaders Raise Concerns Over Party Discipline
AAP leaders highlighted multiple instances where Chadha allegedly did not follow party directions, including not participating in opposition walkouts in Parliament.
Delhi leaders, including Saurabh Bharadwaj, said that party members must raise strong issues in Parliament rather than focusing on minor topics.
They also alleged that Chadha failed to speak on issues like alleged misuse of institutions, electoral concerns, and actions against party workers in different states.
Atishi Questions Chadha’s Stand
Delhi Leader of Opposition Atishi questioned why Chadha is not speaking against the BJP and major national issues.
She said that issues like LPG price rise and electoral concerns are affecting common people, but Chadha has not raised these matters in Parliament.
Atishi also recalled that when party leaders were protesting on the streets during difficult times, Chadha was not present, raising further questions about his commitment.
Party Reaffirms Its Stand on Fearless Politics
AAP leaders reiterated that the party believes in fearless politics and raising issues related to the common people.
They said that remaining silent on major national concerns weakens democratic values and questioned how such an approach can continue in active politics.
The party emphasized that its leaders are expected to stand strongly against issues affecting the public and uphold the party’s principles of transparency and accountability.
