Chandigarh: Punjab School Education Department’s 4th Mega Parents-Teachers Meeting (PTM) and Parents’ Workshop received an overwhelming response, with over 23.30 lakh parents participating across government schools. The initiative aimed to strengthen parent-teacher relationships and enhance parental involvement in students’ overall development. Punjab School Education Minister S. Harjot Singh Bains presided over the PTM at Government Senior Secondary School (Girls), Sri Anandpur Sahib, while AAP Punjab Incharge Sh. Manish Sisodia attended the event at Government Senior Secondary Smart School, Paddi Sura Singh in Hoshiarpur district. Over 7,500 schools were visited by MLAs, Secretary of School Education Ms. Anindita Mitra, Director SCERT Ms. Kiran Sharma, district commissioners, and other senior officials.

Minister Bains highlighted that under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the School Education Department is achieving new milestones. More than 40,000 teachers, at least one from each government school, were trained at block and cluster levels to conduct structured Parents’ Workshops. These workshops, supported by SMC-led meetings and handouts, aimed to help parents better understand their role in children’s academic, emotional, and social development while fostering stronger collaboration between parents, teachers, and School Management Committees (SMCs).

He added that the PTM discussions began with appreciation of students’ efforts and parents’ support, creating a positive and respectful environment for dialogue. Parents were informed about academic goals, upcoming initiatives, and practical ways to support learning at home. The initiative, covering students from pre-primary to senior secondary levels, is expected to improve learning outcomes, ensure regular attendance, and enhance emotional well-being, marking it as one of the largest parent engagement drives in Punjab’s education sector.
