Major Boost to Rural Connectivity as PMGSY-IV Projects Get Approval

Shimla: Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh today said that the Government of India has accorded clearance to road projects proposed by Himachal Pradesh under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-IV (PMGSY-IV), Batch-I for the year 2025-26.

He said that the proposals were examined by the Empowered Committee in its meeting held on 4 November, 2025 and the approval has been granted on the basis of the Committee’s recommendations and the compliance report submitted by the State Government.

The Minister said that a total of 294 road works, covering a length of 1,538.058 kilometres have been approved at a total cost of Rs. 2,247.24 crore. Out of this, Rs. 2,019.70 crore would be borne by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), while the State Government’s share would be Rs. 227.54 crore, which includes Rs. 3.124 crore towards higher specification costs. The average cost per kilometre has been fixed at Rs. 146.11 lakh.

He said that among these roads four have been approved for Bilaspur, 65 for Chamba, two for Hamirpur, 12 for kangra, eight for Kinnaur, 65 for Kullu, two for Lahaul & Spiti, 23 for Mandi, 97 for Shimla, 11 for Sirmaur, three for Solan and two for Una District.

Vikramaditya Singh said that the approved projects would significantly improve road connectivity in rural and remote areas of the State. He said that it would ensure easier movement, better access to essential services and enhanced economic opportunities for local communities.

The Public Works Minister expressed his gratitude to the Union Government and said the it would pave way to State Government’s commitment of strengthen rural infrastructure while providing safe, reliable and all-weather road connectivity to the people of the state across Himachal Pradesh.
