Chandigarh: Haryana Social Justice, Empowerment, SCs & BCs Welfare (SEWA) Minister, Krishan Kumar Bedi on Saturday said that rural development is the first and foremost priority of the Haryana Government, with sustained efforts being made to provide villages with facilities comparable to those available in urban areas. He said the wheel of development is moving rapidly in the Narwana region, which is poised to emerge as a major growth hub in the coming years.

Addressing a public gathering in Frain Kalan village, Krishan Kumar Bedi said the state government is continuously working to equip villages with modern infrastructure and amenities. The government’s objective, he said, is not merely to execute development works but to make villages self-reliant, prosperous and fully equipped with all basic civic facilities on the lines of cities. Narwana, too, is scripting a new chapter of development in a rapidly transforming Haryana, the Minister said.

On the occasion, Krishan Kumar Bedi also laid the foundation stone of a Gram Sachivalaya (Village Secretariat) to be constructed by the Panchayati Raj Department at an estimated cost of approximately Rs 88.25 lakh. The facility will enable villagers to access a range of panchayat-related services under one roof.

He also inaugurated two newly constructed village streets built by the Panchayati Raj Department at a cost of around Rs 24 lakh. In addition, the Minister laid the foundation stone for a Government Veterinary Dispensary to be constructed by the Animal Husbandry Department at an estimated cost of nearly Rs 31 lakh.

Krishan Kumar Bedi said better roads, paved streets and robust infrastructure significantly improve the quality of rural life and accelerate the pace of development. He said education, healthcare, development and public trust constitute the four key pillars of the Haryana Government’s governance model.

Krishan Kumar Bedi said that under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Haryana Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, development schemes are being extended to every village in the state. He said that the government is expanding essential infrastructure such as roads, drinking water supply, electricity, education and healthcare to ensure balanced development across Haryana and realise the vision of self-reliant rural communities.

The Cabinet Minister said improved road connectivity and modern infrastructure would create fresh opportunities for trade, industry and employment in rural areas. He said that the government’s clear objective, he added, is to ensure that young people do not have to migrate to cities in search of jobs and basic facilities, but are able to find better opportunities within their own region.

Responding to demands raised by the Gram Panchayat, Krishan Kumar Bedi assured that proposals for a sports stadium, drinking water pipeline, a science laboratory and boundary wall for the village school, sheds at cremation grounds, paving of village streets and agricultural approach roads, along with several other development works, would also be taken up.
